Earthing - healing ourselves with nature

Updated: Apr 6

The practice of Grounding, or Earthing is both a timeless and modern Ritual that helps us to stimulate natural healing by reconnecting with the earth’s electrical charges.

Grounding has roots in electrical science, referring to the practice of connecting electrical equipment and appliances to the earth, to protect against shocks, shortages, and interference.

In turn, applying this principle to our own electric biology, earthing protects the body’s delicate bioelectrical circuitry from becoming unbalanced. The theory of the earth is a natural way to restore our natural electrical charge.

The subject of electronic biology is rarely explored, as is the bioelectrical relationship we share with the planet we live on. Science emphasizes that there is a vital electrical continuity taking place between the earth and all the living organisms she supports.

Medical studies are now also learning about the recovery benefits we can receive from nature’s electricity, by simply reconnecting our bodies to the ground beneath our feet.

Studies prove that the practice of grounding discharges displaced energy which lowers chronic inflammation in the body. This recent medical phenomenon has massive health implications as there is a strong link between chronic inflammation and disease, including the disease of aging.

It has been scientifically proven that kinetic electrical charges run through our bodies. All of our movements, behaviors, and actions, and even our thoughts are energized by electricity, pass through energetic meridians in our bodies, giving life to our very cells.

We are a collection of dynamic electrical circuits where trillions of cells constantly transmit and receive energy. The movement of nutrients and cells in the body is regulated by electrical fields.

Each cell has its frequency range. Your heart, muscles, brain, and nervous systems are all electrical subsystems operating within our bioelectrical bodies. The primordial natural energy emanating from the earth is the ultimate anti-inflammatory and ultimate anti-aging medicine.

Using nature’s energy to heal ourselves may seem like an esoteric concept, however, there is proven science behind the theory of grounding.

Multi-disciplinary research has revealed that electrically conductive contact of the human body with the surface of the Earth (grounding or earthing) produces intriguing effects on physiology and health.

Such effects related to inflammation, immune responses, wound healing, and prevention and treatment of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

These studies that were conducted involved the use of patches on the participants' palms and feet to measure electrical magnetic charges. Blood measurements were also drawn to monitor red blood cell fluidity—which is directly connected to heart health. The results of grounding produced less red-blood-cell clumping, which suggests that grounding is beneficial to heart health and the ability to stimulate our natural healing faculties that reduce inflammation - a known cause of disease.

In our beloved modern societies, where concrete, cosmopolitan landscapes abide, we are largely disconnected from nature. We are, earth-starved.

We wear nonconductive shoes with synthetic soles that block our energy from the earth.

We spent a disproportionate amount of time indoors, walking on carpets and sleeping on elevated beds.

We live and work in high-rise structures, sheltered from nature.

We live sedentary lifestyles, gazing at electronic devices.

We never walk or sit barefoot never giving our bodies a chance to discharge our electric energy.

We have lost our electrical roots, the earth’s electrical grounds which served as our innate anti-inflammatory defenses dating back to our early human hood.

It’s no wonder mental health, and psychological disorders like anxiety, ADD, ADHD, mental health, and depression are prevalent conversations in our social circles.

The practice of Grounding Therapy relies on physics, to explain how we can utilize electrical charges from our earth, which can have profound positive effects on our bodies and our psychological health.

Just think about how good you feel after taking a walk in nature, walking barefoot in sand or grass, or time spent near large bodies of water.

This sense of calm euphoria is the experience of the earth energizing your body with electrical charges.

In short, earthing restores maintains the human body’s most natural electrical state, to promote optimal health and functionality. And the best part is, it’s free and accessible to you now.

Here are a few ways you can work with nature to stimulate your natural healing and optimize your health:

Whether it’s a sandy beach, fresh green grass, or mud, walking barefoot allows our skin to have direct contact with the earth’s electrical charges, to reap the benefits of grounding. Walking on smooth pebbles stones is a great way to massage and soothe the bottom of your feet which contain nerve endings.

Even walking in nature, through a forest, or hiking through the mountains, or jogging along the ocean or lake, can bring great stress-reducing benefits, with the use of specific grounding footwear.

Laying on a clean patch of grass, earth, or sand, is even better than walking, as more of your body’s surface is connecting with the earth’s powerful energy. Cloud and star gazing are also known to have a wonderful effect on recalibrating and aligning our energy with the universal forces of nature.

Alternatively, you can invest in an organic, eco-friendly grounding mat with technology that plugs into the earth’s surface to stimulate natural grounding.

HYDROTHERAPY - Submerge in water.

Taking a dip in a lake or ocean and fully submerging your body in water is another way to partake in grounding rituals to benefit your body.

This ancient Finnish ritual has been replicated in Hydrotherapy spas around the world which have been proven to optimize the body's health and immune systems through hot and cold hydrotherapy.

Ancient SALT CAVE Therapy, was widely popular among Kings and luminaries from ancient civilizations, for its calming, healing, and regenerating effects on the human body.

The Himalayan salt's natural mineral properties have proven to reduce negative ions in the air, alkalizing the body to promote optimal healing.

Today, we can access man-made salt caves spas around the world some of which import the salt from the Himalayan mountains.
